Benefits

The benefits resulting from application of flexible hoses for deep well pumps

1. Flexible cables for deep-well pumps.

Structure of the specialist flexible hoses for deep well pump engines has been prepared with their durability and the assembly methods in mind. Scope of the cable diameters is very wide and includes the needs of typical plants - water supply companies.

Also the durability and pressure parameters have been selected in such a way that they cover over 95% of the related needs.

Special flexible cables for deep well pumps may be built at the depth to 200 m and in particular cases even up to 300 m and this way the depth of a pumping engine installation may be exceeded.

The applied cables are dedicated for deep well pumping engines, including the pipe joints, grips and bands fixing the engine and measuring equipment cables.

We also supply special instruments for pump installation, appropriate for different types of assembly, i.e. lifts, installation drums, assembly clamps etc. The cables have special joints fit for connecting with the deep well pump return valve flange on one side and the well head knee on the other side. Some important remarks regarding the fixing and installation of a deep well engine:

  • The engine cable shall be fixed on a flexible pipeline every 1-3 m with special bands.
  • The cable length along a flexible pipeline may not be smaller than 105% of the pipeline length.
  • The deep engine has to be additionally earthed in accordance with the general power requirements.

2. Benefits of flexible hose application.

The basic benefits of application of flexible hoses for installation of deep well pumps may be described in the following way:

  • The flexible hoses are light, flexible, as its name would suggests, and flat, so they are easy in storage and transport.
  • In most cases, the cables are installed on a single section, so they only have two joints, at the top and the bottom end. The joints install in a single step, easily and quickly.
  • The flexible pipeline guarantees tightness of joints and reliability.
  • Time of the pump assembly on the flexible hose is a few times shorter from the time of assembly of the classical steel pipes, so the flexible hose makes it possible to decrease the costs of installation and uninstallation of pumping engines.
  • Average 3% elongation of the flexible hose at work and 15% increase in the diameter, prevents the pipeline from the iron oxide and other deposits, which radically decreases the linear flow resistance.
  • Flexibility and durability of the pipeline decreases the risk resulting from possible hydraulic stress.
  • The structure of the flexible hose is ready for quick and sure installation of the deep well engine cable and control or measuring cables (every 4-5 m).
  • The material of the flexible pipeline enables its work at the temperature below 30ºC at the pH 4-9, and at the temperatures from 30ºC to 55ºC , the recommended pH is 5-9. The pipeline is resistant to salt water and other chemicals.

Flexible hoses for installation of deep well pumps have visibly lower linear flow losses, which lowers the maintenance costs of the deep well pump operation costs of the deep well pump system. For example, a Mandals 4' flexible hose installed at 100 m, with the flow rate of 54 mph generates the friction loss at the level of about 1.5 m, while a steel pipe may generate the loss of 9 m (30 ft). This difference is generating serious energy savings. These costs should be taken into account.

3. Additional remarks

  • Flexible hoses may be stored at the temperatures from -20ºC to 40ºC.
  • Application of flexible hoses requires drilling the return valve heads of a deep well pump (about 6 mm) in order to guarantee the water drainage before uninstallation of the pump.
  • Maximum lengths of flexible pipelines may in particular cases reach 300 m.

4. Summary

Application of modern technology for installation of pumps with flexible hoses results in much shorter time of installation or replacement of the pump engine in the wells. Also the operational advantages, mainly the energy savings resulting from lower linear losses in the pressure pipeline of a working pump, are confirmed. In case of pumping of raw water with a large content of iron or manganese compounds, i.e. the medium which quickly deposits on the walls of traditional steel walls, the decrease in the flow resistance in flexible hoses brings significant savings.
